The human race is made up of individuals with a bizarre outlook on life.
It isn't rare to find one living in 'misery' under the guise of saving
for tomorrow. "Leave a little for tomorrow," "what about tomorrow?" An
attitude that has been ingrained in individuals right from childhood.
Inflation and the plummeting global economy have worsened matters as
some items are now viewed as luxuries by many. What individuals need to
realize however is the fact that life is for the living. Besides, it
aint a rehearsal and is only lived once. Life ought to be lived and not
passed through like another obligation. We should simply ask ourselves,
“what if tomorrow never comes?” Will we turn in our graves with regrets?
This shouldn’t however mean that individuals should overspend today at the expense of the future. We should simply enjoy life and give ourselves a treat even for a bit.
A
close friend is responsible for my attitude change. Sheila observed
that I was always preoccupied with the future. My anthem was always;
“what about tomorrow?” I was never at ease unless I had ensured that the
next day was catered for. She thus told me to style up and stop living
as if I was rehearsing for a more perfect life. “How come you always
save for tomorrow yet when it arrives your life is as it was before?”
She always wondered.
Most
individuals struggle to make their lives better yet end up spending
their hard earned money on others forgetting about themselves. It is
common to look at items on magazine pages or on television and wishing
that we could own them. The irony however is that most of us can afford
these items yet deny ourselves the luxury of owning them.
Forbes magazine which is well-known for its lists, that is; the richest Americans (the Forbes 400) and its list of billionaires often
features the extravagant lives of these individuals. When we read or
hear of such, we are often shocked at how extravagant the rich can get.
What we do not realize however is the fact that they are aware that life
is lived only once and that money is made to be spent.
Individuals should forget their trouble for just a moment and enjoy life after all, life is for the living.
